Background
Richard’s journey into composition began at Durham University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Music with a focus on composition. During his time there, he immersed himself in a wide spectrum of musical styles, honing his skills in contemporary, electronic, and world music. This eclectic blend of influences continues to shape his distinctive compositional voice.
Eager to broaden his horizons, Richard ventured into the world of Film and TV composition, earning a Master’s degree with distinction from the University of Bristol. Here, he delved deeper into the fusion of traditional and non-traditional soundscapes, seamlessly integrating electronic elements and non-orchestral instruments into his scores. His work combines new and intriguing sounds with traditional instruments, weaving storytelling into a wide range of influences to create unique and engaging soundscapes.
